"I am especially drawn to how intaglio translates my current work, in which I portray traditional New Mexican tin frames, referring back to my memories of being a child and watching my dad create tin nichos. I see each mark in the tin as the passage of time, with its' ups and downs, circling endlessly around some image of self, the soul, an experience, or feeling, reflected in our mind's eye. The punched tin also shows me that what could be seen as a flaw, can turn into a beautiful design if you make it that way. In the same way, what seem to be flawed experiences or choices in our past, can become great lessons to learn from to make our futures more beautiful if we allow it to be that way. For me, the mirrors symbolize reflection on oneself, our actions, thoughts, and perceptions.of the universe around us."
